How to clean hat band. Clean the hat s sweatband in the same way. Clean top and inside. Err on the side of cool versus hot. But if it s very worn or dirty you may simply want to replace it with a new one. If salt stains form on the felt dip a white cloth into an equal mix of distilled white vinegar and water.

Hand wash with mild soap and cold water using a sponge. Vinegar and baking soda are an excellent combination for washing a hard hat sweatband to remove sweat stains. Place the hat on a clean towel and pat it down until there is no more water dripping. To wash inside use cold water. Use the brush to scrub the band and then blot with a clean white cloth dipped in water.

But the inside clean up system is different. Turn the hatband out and allow the hat to dry completely between wearings. Do not wring or twist your hat as this could ruin your hat s shape or cause unwanted pilling. For fabric sweatbands fold them down and clean with a mild detergent water mixture and a soft brush. Armor all is an excellent product to clean and treat vinyl but should not be used on fabric covered shakos.

Air dry the hat. There are two different methods you can take to clean your straw hat depending on how soiled it is and if it is limp or not. White vinegar can also be used to remove sweat stains. Apply 1 tablespoon of white vinegar onto each sweat stain and gently scrub until the stain is gone. Wipe away excess and then let air dry.

With an old brush vinegar with fresh water and baking soda are melted with a little scrubbing rub it thoroughly with your hand. Use unused portions of the cloth to wash individual sweat stains. The top part of the hard hat sweatband should clean with soap and light warm water. Shellac if your straw hat is limp you can help by brushing it with clear shellac and an equal amount of alcohol to make it stand again. Start with the sweatband which is often the most stained part of a hat due to perspiration body soil make up or hair products.
