How to fix your glasses arm without glue. As of 9 22 20 the repairs on all 3 pairs of glasses that i did over 3 years ago are still holding. First slide the shrink tubing up the arm. Then slightly melt both ends and quickly. Once you apply super glue leave it over night to dry. Otherwise you should have slid on the shrink tubing prior to super gluing.
Cover your lenses with wax paper to prevent scratching and then wrap a rubber band over one end of the stick and secure it to your glasses. You can use your glue gun to melt the two pieces together again. Do the same on the other end. Make sure that you remove any smudges on both sides of the lenses. Line up the hinges of the front of your eyeglass frame and the arm and place the toothpick in the screw s place.
Once you apply super glue leave it over night to dry. You will have to work fast as they cool fast. Then put some non abrasive toothpaste not gel on the scratches. The shrink tubing slides up and over the carbon fiber and hinge and you want to get it up as far as possible. A simple and ingenious way to fix your glasses temporarily is with a toothpick.
Use a wool or cotton cloth to rub the toothpaste firmly onto the scratches in a circular motion for half a minute. Your final step is to trim the toothpick down to size. Line the two halves up carefully and be sure the rubber bands are holding things firmly in place.
